Project Name: 500,000 Gallon Elevated Tank

Elevated Tank – Waterloo, IL

The City of Waterloo, Illinois, recently completed the construction of a new 500,000-gallon elevated water tower, significantly enhancing the city's water storage capacity. This project is a key part of the city’s initiative to develop its own water treatment plant, ensuring a reliable and self-sufficient water supply for the community.

Located on the property of the Waterloo Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW) Post 6504 on Veterans Drive, the new water tower doubles the city's storage capacity, replacing an existing 250,000-gallon tower. This expansion strengthens the city's water infrastructure to meet both current and future water demands.

In addition to improving water storage, the tower enhances water pressure and distribution throughout the city. This project is part of Waterloo's broader strategy to reduce reliance on external water providers, enabling more control over water quality and availability. The city has secured funding through the Illinois Environmental Protection Agency’s Public Water Supply Loan Program to support the development of the new water treatment plant and related infrastructure.

The new water tower became fully operational in November 2024, marking a major milestone in the city’s efforts to enhance its water infrastructure and ensure a more secure water supply for its residents.
