Project title: Storage Expansion #19

Caldwell was tasked with providing a standpipe for vegetable oil storage, but the project came with two major challenges.

First, the customer needed the standpipe within just three months—even though the foundation hadn’t been designed yet.

Second, the standpipe’s permanent location was extremely constrained. With other product tanks just three feet away and limited access to even one side, traditional construction methods weren’t feasible.

To meet the tight schedule, we took an innovative approach. We built the standpipe approximately 500 feet away on a temporary pad we constructed specifically for this purpose. Meanwhile, the permanent foundation was built in parallel to minimize delays. Once the standpipe was fully assembled—except for final anchorage—we brought in a larger crane to lift and place it onto its permanent foundation.

Since heating was required, we reviewed and approved an existing heating coil for reuse, as no vendor could provide a heater within the required timeframe.

To meet process requirements, 304 stainless steel was selected as the standpipe material, ensuring durability and performance.
