Caldwell supplied three Stainless Steel Field-Erected Tanks for East Kentucky Power Cooperative, located in LaGrange, KY. This project was part of a dual fuel implementation at EKPC’s Bluegrass Station; notably, EKPC’s very first dual fuel project.
We built these tanks to store ULSD and Demineralized Water. A unique aspect about this project points to Caldwell’s advanced stainless steel capabilities; because of which, we were able to provide the ULSD Tanks as Stainless Steel instead of Carbon Steel. The way we designed these tanks is set to offer EKPC a major reduction in long-term maintenance costs.
The consulting engineer, Burns and McDonnell, brought this option to the table, pitched for EKPC’s evaluation and consideration. Caldwell’s prowess in creating Stainless Steel enabled us to deliver on that economically innovative idea, constructing tanks at a lower initial cost than Stainless Steel would have otherwise incurred.
