Caldwell provided Poole & Kent Corporation a highly specific Field-Erected Pressure Vessel — designed for a customer in the Mid-Atlantic States.
The Pressure Vessel was an ASME Section VIII-designed vessel, created with a design pressure of 125 psi. Caldwell’s scope included: the vessel design, fabrication, along with the mechanical process piping internal to the tank design and fabrication. This incorporated the Code Stamping and National Board registration for the tank.
When it came to process, Caldwell knew this tank needed a diameter of 25’ with an overall vessel height of 44’. For shipping purposes, Caldwell had to fabricate the top and bottom heads in one (1) piece and then cut them in half. This tends to present a challenge at the larger diameters — especially for the bottom head. In this case, the undertaking became that much more ambitious, considering the shell and the heads each posed thickness of 1” or more; hurdles Caldwell was poised to tackle.
