Caldwell Tanks, Inc. Awarded Special Storage Tank of the Year from STI/SPFA
LOUISVILLE, KY MARCH 1, 2017: Louisville based Caldwell Tanks, Inc. was awarded the Special Storage Tank of the Year by Steel Tank Institute/Steel Plate Fabricators Association for 2016. This is Caldwell’s fifth Tank of the year award presented by STI/SPFA since 2012 and the second year in a row Caldwell won in two different categories. Over all, Caldwell has been presented with 17 Tank of the Year awards.
The project consisted of a total of (17) Carbon Steel Tanks built for Chevron Phillips Chemical Cedar, Bayou Plant, located in Baytown, TX. Over 10,000 people worked on this project with a cost of over $6 billion. It is as large as 50 football fields and used over 350 miles of steel piping. The tanks were built for process and storage needs of the World Scale Ethane Cracker which is the first world scale cracker to be built in the United States in almost 20 years. This addition to the Cedar Bayou plant increased ethylene production by over 3.3 Billion pounds per year.
